Over the Counter Drug Test

An over-the-counter-drug test has a lot of uses; from a person trying to pass a pre-employment requirement, to a concerned parent wanting to make sure that his or her child is not into drugs to an employer who wants to be assured that one of his employees is not violating the company's drug policy. They would usually turn to over-the counter drug testing kits to confirm their initial suspicion and hope for the best.

Over the Counter Drug Test

Choosing the right test can be very sensitive and difficult, especially if one is unfamiliar with the methods of detecting a specific drug. A person has to study and learn about the ability of an over the counter drug test kit and the specific drug you want to identify. Over-the-counter drug tests can be classified into three types. The urine test, saliva swab test and finally the hair test.

The most common type of over the counter drug test is the urine test; the traces of drugs that are left in the body can easily be seen through a urine sample. It offers on the spot results without going to the laboratory and have the urine sample analyzed. The disadvantages of this test are, one, it requires a witness to make sure the urine sample is truly yours and it can be very uncomfortable to be in that situation.

Saliva swab test on the other hand is the most popular method of drug testing because it is less invasive. This over the counter drug test may immediately determine the drug that has been taken, its better to utilize this method especially if you are suspecting someone of drug use. Though it can be difficult to manipulate, saliva swab drug test has certain limitations in determining the quantity, how recent and what particular drug is being tested for. Over the counter drug test also include the hair test. It is the most accurate test but it is also the most time consuming since the samples have to be analyzed by a lab. A wide range of illegal substances can be detected by a hair test and it can also determine how long it's been in the subjects body system.

All of these tests are available and people who use them must be able to confront the consequences and repercussions of the results. If the tests are negative, you can breath a sigh of relief, but if positive, then prepare for the next steps on confronting drug problems.
