Coming Up With An Effective Worm Farm Design

Indian God Lotion Presents Coming Up With An Effective Worm Farm Design

You do not need a lot of teaching to come up with a worm farm design but there are certain rules you need to stick by. In order to have a successful worm farm there are certain aspects you cannot neglect. Whether you have been thinking of starting your own worm farm for a while now or just recently the thought has crossed your mind, you will need to know what you are doing. These tips will help you do just that.

Starting from the ground up is the best way to go about things for a worm farm. Are you going to use a concrete pad or just some bricks for the floor of your worm farm? It really does not have to be anything fancy because after all you are just going to be covering everything with dirt and having worms crawl over it anyway.
Do not forget to poke holes in each container you are using for a worm farm so there is proper ventilation and drainage.

If you do not have enough holes in the top and bottom what happens is the worms will not get the oxygen they need and they can end up drowning if there is not drainage in the bottom of the container. Worms can handle a bit of water but if you are over watering and flooding the container they will not be able to survive. Check the drainage holes regularly for debris and clean if you need to. In terms of the materials you will be using for the inside of the worm farm, you have a lot of options.

Try some damp newspaper and garden soil out first as these tend to be the best for worm farms. Feedings should be at least once or twice a week and could be pretty much any type of garbage. Milk products are one of the few things they will not eat so do not even bother. These are the basic steps to creating a successful worm farm design.

Of course as you get more experience with it you can start to add in more elements but this is good enough to get started. You would need to use longer containers for this and would need a specific area in your home or outside to hold the farms. Some people even choose to harvest a bunch of worm farms at one time and start their own business. You will just need to increase the number of worm farms you are harvesting and start to market your business to let people know you are out there.
